Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology
About WKU and Bowling Green

Bowling Green, Kentucky, with a population of approximately 50,000, is located 60 miles north of Nashville, TN, and 110 miles south of Louisville, KY. The city is in the middle of an outdoor recreational area and is less than an hour from Mammoth Cave National Park, a world heritage site. Bowling Green has four seasons, with an average yearly temperature of 51.5 degrees. Snowfall in the winter averages 10 inches per year. The city has a variety of shopping options, cinemas, live theater, and sports activities. The Corvette plant and National Corvette Museum are located in the city. There are a number of historical activities within a short driving distance, including Civil War historical sites, the Shaker Museum, Historical Downtown Bowling Green, and St. Joseph’s Cathedral. In addition, Bowling Green has one of the largest number of restaurants per capita in the nation.


Western Kentucky University has about 18,000 students. Its sports teams compete in the Sun Belt Conference and are beginning to be nationally known. The football team won the Division I-AA National Championship in 2003. The university also offers intramural sports and cultural events, such as plays and speakers. The Psychology Department is one of the largest departments in the university and is the largest psychology department in the state. The interests of the faculty are wide-ranging and can be viewed from their web pages.

Other graduate degree options include an Ed. S. in School Psychology and an M.A. in Applied Experimental and Industrial/Organizational Psychology.
