Questions and Answers

1. What is in the IECE specialty test? Where can I take the test?
The IECE specialty test is given at Kentucky universities at the same time as the National Teachers Exam (PRAXIS). Contact your local university’s Teacher Certification Office or the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB) in Frankfort for a registration bulletin, or go to the EPSB web page here.

2. What is the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (KTIP)?
In Kentucky, teachers are required to complete an internship as part of their first year of employment after completing the preparation program. Internships may be completed only in approved settings, generally those that hold regional or national accreditation. The internship involves mentoring from an internship committee made up of the principal or director, a resource teacher, and a university teacher educator. Check with the Education Professional Standards Board.
