Psy 501, Issues in Using the Internet in Instruction:

Personal Schedule Sheet

What may be done at any time will be done at no time.--Scottish proverb

The sooner you fall behind, the more time you'll have to catch up.

One of the most important functions of an instructor in Cyberspace is helping the student maintain motivation.

We know from psychological research that keeping a record of a behavior is one of the simplest and most effective ways to encourage that behavior. Having an outside party to provide support and a locus of accountability is also effective at achieving a desired behavior.

Accordingly, I would like you to keep track of the weekly times you spend on this course. Please print the table below and post it near your computer. Record your work time each week (including reading the text), for example: "1-2 Tues." Periodically I ask you to fax (270/745-6934), snail mail (Dept. of Psychology, Western Kentucky University, Bowling Green, KY 42101) or E-mail your records to me. As you gain skill in being an on-line student, you will need this form less.

This exercise is also intended to model how you might help your students to effectively use Internet instruction. I am also interested in your information as it will tell me if I am giving appropriately sized assignments, and help me in planning. Later in the semester I will schedule some synchronous sessions.

If you have any questions, please be sure to e-mail me at sally.kuhlenschmidt@wku.edu
