For the purposes of our exam remember: two consonants that fall beside each other in a word and make only ONE sound are classified as CONSONANT DIGRAPHS. You should memorize: sh, th, ch, ph, ng, gh, wh. Others you might see include the double letters in words like "letter" - the "tt" is a consonant digraph because it has two letters that make one sound. Also, words like "gnaw" the "gn" is a consonant digraph because it has two letters that make only one sound.
