Introduction

Your task if you choose to accept it to work with your group to learn the six animal groups.  Your group will consist of two students and one adult.  Your group has a secret mission.  You are in a forest that has all different habitats.  There are animals running wild everywhere.  The fate of the world depends upon you getting the animals back to their correct habitat.  You must classify each animal you find and get it back to where it lives and its family.  Scientists have long been studying animals.  In order to group them they classify each animal into a group.  You should remember that the word classify means to put into groups. (Classify is a “do” word listed on the wall for reference.)  If you think about the definition of the word classify, you do it all the time.  We do it with foods.  The ladies in the cafeteria do not stir up all the food in one bowl and serve it to you do they?  No, they put the food in groups on your plate.  We also classify when we choose teams for a game.  Animal are grouped in the same way.  Our task today is to classify animals into the six groups and learn information about each group.  Hurray, lets get started you only have 24 hours to complete this task.
