Introduction
In the mid 50's and 60's, a cry broke out all over the United States. African Americans were outraged and fed up with the racism and prejudices that were put upon them. African Americans could not drink from the same water fountains as white people, ride in the front of the bus, go to the same schools as white people, or even have a good job during this time. Therefore, the civil rights movement erupted across our nation. African Americans demanded to be treated equally. During this time, there were several great people that helped African Americans achieve their dreams of equal rights for all races. They were Martin Luther King, Jr., Rosa Parks, and Ruby Bridges just to name a few that we have read about.
