The Reporter

History repeats itself...have you ever heard that saying? Wars, terrorism, and assassinations are still problems today. As you read in the summary of the play, Julius Caesar was assassinated. When an assassination of a political figure occurs, people are hoping for a change. Sometimes this change leads to political stability, sometimes turmoil.

As the reporter, your job is to research Julius Caesar's assassination as well as the assassination of at least one other political figure. You will then compare the two assassinations by writing a feature article that discusses at least three similarities between Caesar's assassination and the other assassination you choose to research.

To keep track of all your information, you might want to use the following graphic organizer:

Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How?--Use this organizer to keep track of the details of Caesar's assassination and the assassination of another political figure just like a reporter.

First, research Julius Caesar's assassination:

Julius Caesar

Caesar 1

Caesar 2

Caesar 3

Next, choose one of the following assassinations to compare to Julius Caesar's:

Abraham Lincoln

Lincoln 1

Lincoln 2

Lincoln 3

John F. Kennedy

JFK 1

JFK 2

JFK 3

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

MLK 1

MLK 2

MLK 3

James I, King of Scotland

King James 1

King James 2

King James 3

Archduke Ferdinand

Archduke Ferdinand 1

Archduke Ferdinand 2

Archduke Ferdinand 3

After researching the assassination of Caesar and one of the other victims of assassination listed, find at least three similarities between Caesar's assassination and the one you researched. Write a feature article that discusses at least three similarities between the two assassinations to show that history does, sometimes, repeat itself. Articles are usually written with headlines and columns and may even contain a picture or two. If you need help on how to write an article, check out the following links:
