Introduction:
Help!! Mrs. Roach has knocked over her flowerpot and hit her head. The teacher is so mixed up, she doesn't know which end of the plant to put in the pot. She has amnesia and can't remember what the plant needs to help it grow and recover from the accident.

Task:
Your task is for all four scientists to go Paint Brush draw a plant, label the parts, and explain in 2-3 sentences how the plant goes into the pot and why. Your next task is to draw a word wheel showing everything involved in growing a healthy plant, and finally put on your thinking caps and use a Venn diagram to compare a plant's life cycle to a human's.
Process:
Teacher reviews chapter in Science about plants, talking about plant growth and life cycles.
Jobs: One scientist will be the Reader/Leader. That person is responsible for reading the book The Carrot Seed, by Ruth Krauss to the other members of the group and instructions in WebQuest. The Scribe will write down anything needed. The Materials Person makes sure everyone has what they need to finish the quest (pencils, books, papers). The Presenter will inform the teacher of the group's progress and explain their findings.
Reader will read The Carrot Seed. Scribe will pull up the graphic organizer forms on http://www.teachervision.com for Who, What, When, Where, Why and How. In answering the questions, scientists will be able to show what is understood about the story. The Materials Person makes sure everyone has a copy of everything.
Next all scientists will go into the Paint Brush program draw a plant, label the parts, and explain in 2-3 sentences how to repot the plant and what's necessary to make it grow healthy again.
Finally the Scribe will pull up a Venn diagram from http://www.teachervision.com for comparison of a plant's life cycle with that of a human.
Scientists will make entries into their science journals about their quest.
The Presenter will then explain the group's findings to the teacher.
How do you think you did?

Because these scientists have performed their tasks soooo. . . well, and helped Mrs. Roach get her plant on the way to recovery, go to these websites to see what you might find:
Enjoy!!
