INTRODUCTION
Charlotte's Web, a Newberry novel written by E. B. White in 1952, is a classic literary tale about a pig named Wilbur and his loyal spider friend, Charlotte A. Cavatica. Pigs may appear to be disgusting animals, but they are really quite extraordinary. Come and go with Wilbur as he embarks on a quest entitled This Little Piggy Went to Market. During the course of his trip to market, he gets lost and needs your help to get back to his home in Pennsylvania. As you travel with Wilbur, you will apply math skills, read maps, figure distance, do research on pigs, hone your writing skills, engage in translating Spanish into English, and complete a cooperative learning activity to share with kindergarten students.
