Introduction

In this webquest you will be searching the globe and the many different biomes in the world to find animals and the characteristics that they have that helps them to stay alive.  These characteristics are known as adaptations.  This webquest is a study of biodiversity.  Do you know what biodiversity is?  If you don’t know now, you will by the time this webquest is over.  I bet you have had other questions in your mind.  Why does a giraffe have such a long neck?  Why does a skunk smell so bad?  What’s up with all of those spikes on a porcupine?  These are just a few animals with strange adaptations.  Think of how many more you know of, and think about all of the ones that you don’t.

In this webquest, you will take on the role of a scientific explorer searching for various organisms in a specific biome of the world.  You will gather information about the biome and you will find out what types of organisms live in that biome.  You will also learn what helps those organisms to survive in their environment.  Are you ready?  Good, then let’s get started.  Read the task below and then let’s start exploring.
